Allen Iverson's contract with the 76ers will be guaranteed for the rest of the season, team president and general manager Ed Stefanski said today.

Iverson signed a pro-rated non-guaranteed contract worth $1.3 million.

All NBA contracts become fully guaranteed if the player is on the team roster on Jan. 10. Iverson originally signed as a free agent with the Sixers on Dec. 3.

"Since his arrival, Allen has done everything asked of him and has been an excellent teammate," Stefanski said.

In nine games, Iverson is averaging 15.7 points and 4.7 assists in more than 33 minutes per game.

"I'm happy for Allen,'' said Leon Rose, Iverson's agent. ''It's been a win-win situation for everybody. I believe Allen has a lot of good basketball left in him.''

The Sixers, going in to tonight's game against Washington, are 6-18 without Iverson, 4-5 with him.

''I was confident this was going to work out,'' Rose said. ''But I don't think anyone could have asked for any more.''

I'm fine with this. It looks like he's playing within his limitations at this stage of his career and even helping with the shredded chemistry of this team. It's like the Pedro signing last year, low risk, high reward.

AI provided a little bit of pop to what will be a terrible season. The down side is they needed to tank and get a top 3 pick. But whatever, we have years to wait until the next rebuilding.

This team is a joke. Stefanski hired the cheapest coach, then panicked when they sucked. Why sit Holliday? Get the highest lottery pick Please!!

Doesn't matter because the Sixers don't matter. Haven't for a long time. No reason to think they will anytime soon.

I love how the haters aren't here with their stupid shortsighted comments anymore because the sixers are definitely more fun to watch with AI(especially because he's not such a ball hog anymore), and they're still headed for the lottery. The Sixers still suck bigtime, but nobody's doubting that bringing AI back was a success anymore. Retire him in a big ceremony at the end of the season, and it shows there was absolutely no downside to the deal. Probably the only good move Stefanski's made in a long time.

I will take #5 as my QB anyday scooter. He didn't have a great game, but he can't catch the ball too. Let's see how he does Saturday, he needs to relax and just play football. Noone expects Philly to win anyway, I think that helps us.
