Iverson could miss more games
Bob Cooney
Sixers guard Allen Iverson, who is battling an arthritic left knee that had to be drained twice this week, could be out of the lineup until the Sixers start a West coast trip in Utah on Dec. 26.
Sixers coach Eddie Jordan said after the shootaround in Boston this morning that Iverson would be back for tomorrow's game at home against the Clippers. But in the pregame meeting with media, Jordan said Iverson would be out tonight and tomorrow, possibly out Tuesday at Washington and then return in Utah.
"We think for certain he'll be ready by the end of next weed, maybe by Washington, not tomorrow night. He's been battling some issues that we think he'll be really, really healthy by next week."
A Sixers official clarified that "there is certainly a possibility that he could be out by Utah, it depends on what Dr. Jack[McPhilemy] and how he [Iverson] feels tomorrow. Is there a possibility he could play tomorrow? Yes. Depending on how he feels. However, if he is not responding well, there is the thought process that maybe we hold him out tomorrow and Tuesday and then let him get an extra week of rest then bring him back for Utah."
In a nut shell, the rest would probably be better for Iverson, but we've seen him deal with and play through pain before.
Stay tuned.
Hope AI come back soon, bad legs and all. Watching game today (Boston vs 76ers).. This guy that is suppose to be coaching "stinks" bad. Why is he still around unless the team MGMT wants the season to continue this way. As a fan, I see this team plays hard, thats why they either come back from leads or have lost in close game. Its just bad combination of players on the floor. Regardless if we win today, tomorrow.. A new coach PLZ!!! Vsta7
the coach is terrific vsta7 stevoo
Let's be real here, people. Having your knee drained twice in what, less than two weeks back on the court? Doesn't look too good. Jordan, stick with your young talent in the lineup. A.I. offers his veteran wisdom and spark off the bench. That's good enough. Let the kids play - they are doing a terrific job. The bench is strong with A.I., Brand, Dalembert, Willie Green, and even Smith as the 2nd team. Jrue Holiday is off the charts as a consistent floor general who plays like a veteran with his shot selection and playmaking. His defense and ability to make players alter their shots and their moves to the basket translate to wins for the team. pearl71959

Donavan McCnabb may not be the most beloved sports figure in philadelphia. Sometimes he can be a wack job in his own ways. I'm not to fond of him either. But atleast he's not a CANCER like Allen Iverson. Cancer kills yall. The way you get rid of a cancer is to cut the area of the body where it breeds the most. That's what the sixers need to do with Iverson. They need to cut his as ASAP. evensteven
Guess who is back evensteven we get it brah you dont like allen iverson no need to let us know again wheww. invinciblesoul86
Kate, first let me say that I have enjoyed your reporting and commentary. Secondly, I want to express my thoughts on the Sixers. They will not make the play-offs. As you state, the future is in Lou and Jruh at guard. If AI can stay healthy and compliant, he is a decent piece off the bench, as is WG. Royal is now superfluous. Keeping with the youth movement, I would start TY and MS at 3 and 4 respectively. It's been said a thousand times, but Sammy needs to go. I understand why he hasn't been traded, but Iggy and EB also need to go. Perhaps some combination could result in a trade for a mobile center with some semblance of an interior game and ability to rebound consistently. I'm not an Iggy hater, but he does not shoot well enough to be the go-to guy and he is a turnover machine. He is a good complementary player, but he is not that "star" that teams need to build around in order to compete for a championship. I like EB as well and would keep him, if I could trade Sammy and Iggy. However, it is hard to see where he fits into this "youth" movement long-term. Somehow they have to get physically stronger and tougher. They lack that "man-sized" rebounder who will do the dirty work and the whole team is wimpy, wimpy, wimpy (size, not character). The grade is "incomplete' on Jason Smith, as his minutes have been reduced so greatly. Given his youth, size, and skill set, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt as a back-up 4 and/or 5. Jason Kapono and Rodney Carney should also stick around to see if they can contribute more. Finally, that leads me to the GM and coach. I have no idea as to where they are going with this team. The parts just do not fit. Neither does the Princeton Offense. These guys are supposed to run up and down the floor like crazy and then, when the break isn't there, transition to the most-disciplined, good passing, good shooting, precise picking and cutting offensive system in the game. I'm out of characters. What do you think? njhoops
