Iguodala 'hopeful' to play vs. Cavaliers

POSTED: Monday, March 26, 2012, 1:03 PM

Sixers forward Andre Iguodala says he is "hopeful" that he can return to the lineup for Tuesday night's home game against Cleveland.

Iguodala missed his first game of the season Sunday when he sat out with patellar tendinitis in his left knee. He told reporters that he has been playing with tendinitis for "about a month."

The decision for him to sit was made shortly before the game, although Iguodala said he was "prepared to play."

He missed 15 games last season with tendinitis in his other knee and a strained Achilles'.

Iguodala is averaging 12.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.6 assists.

Tendonitis is what it is...It's not going to get better...Iggy gutted it out last year, but clearly it will deter his explosion, no doubt...I'm thinking DC will give Sam Young some minutes on Iggy's behalf down the line.

Iggy had been wearing a wrap on that leg or a while--.Also no one to co-ordinate the defense in the 2nd half and you saw what happened.

I would like to see him and sam young out there together guarding the other teams scorers.

Its awfully hard to do what you do when what you do requires to you do a lot with your legs when those legs can't do what they used to do.

Left leg is used for most of the explosive jumping for right-handed players. Shame as his all-around game is the glue needed for the playoff push. Will be tough to fend of NY and Boston if Iggy ain't 100%...

I would sit him against Cleveland. Let him get some extra rest.

Have to say that I hope Iggy can play tonight. DC will prove how good a coach he is by how this team finished their season. They need to get back to swarming D, create turnovers and finish strong at the hoop. I will be in the stands on Saturday against Atlanta and hope for a huge home win. Go Sixers!!!
