Igoudala says he needs to be a better leader

Sixers' swingman Andre Igoudala was among 19 players to take part in the first of a 5-day minicamp at UNLV for USA Basketball in advance of the World Championships in Turkey.

Igoudala, at a USA Basketball camp, for the third time is hoping to make the roster and potentially be in line for a spot on the 2012 Olympic team.

It has been a busy few months for the Sixers, with the hiring of Doug Collins, the selection of Evan Turner with the No. 2 overall pick and the trading of Samuel Dalembert.

Iguodala, who has played for six different coaches in as many years in Philadelphia, said he's optimistic that Collins can turn things around.

"Good players keep coaches jobs and bad players get coaches fired," he said. "So we know we have to perform better. I need to do a better job of leading the team and holding it together."

"Hopefully, coach Collins is the right guy and he's going to be there for a while."

More from Igoudala in tomorrow's Daily News.
