Ex-Sixer Korver thanks fans

POSTED: Sunday, July 18, 2010, 3:24 PM

Much as he did when he left the 76ers, guard Kyle Korver had kind words for the fans in Utah.

Korver left the Jazz as a free agent, signing with Chicago with a 3-year, $15 million deal.

Via his Facebook page, Korver had this message:

Hey Jazz fans! Just wanted to take a couple minutes and say thank you for everything you guys have done for me these past 2.5 years. I honestly had no idea what to expect when I came here. My Grandpa Korver always tells me, when you pray, expect the unexpected. Well, Utah was very unexpected! But man.... but you guys have helped make these past seasons the most enjoyable of my career.

I have a lot of respect for everyone associated with the Jazz. They run a 1st class organization and I am very grateful for the opportunity that they gave me. I feel like I grew as a player and as a person while I was here..and I think that has to do a lot with the company that you keep.

Several other things came up in Utah besides the Jazz. Seer Group and Seer Clothing are the results of the efforts of lots of people here. It is our intention for Seer Group to continue in SLC for many years to come. There are several purposes for our foundation, but one of the biggest ones is to say thank you. So, thank you to this community for all you've been and done for me and my family. See you guys next year. When the schedule comes out, I'll have that Jazz game circled

Korver is a class act. Why can't we just say that and keep the racist remarks out of it?

Seriously, you are going to make racist comments? What does skin color have to do with it? What an idiot.

fb is probably Korver himself --- he wants people on this comment string to talk about racism instead of the fact that he can't play defense.

well done, fb. Never mind that right in our town McNabb made an apology for not winning. Not the same as a thank you but still classy.

Korver didn't leave, he was traded and he still makes his off season home in this area.

I wonder how lonely fb-omniscient feels knowing that he is the lone bigot on this comment board, while the rest of us, non-inbred citizens, can appreciate this nice story

I don't know, am I missing something, I thought Korver was extremely bitter when the Sixers traded him. Am I thinking of someone else?

Trading Korver was another wise Sixers trade. We dumped him and his salary for Gordon Giricek. Who almost never played, then went over to play in Turkey the next year. We then spent his cap space on Elton Brand and Iguodala's extension. This is why we can't have nice things.
