Dalembert traded to Sacramento

POSTED: Thursday, June 17, 2010, 2:16 PM

Is this a good deal for the Sixers?
Yes
No

UPDATED: The Sixers have just announced the deal. “We are excited to add two players in Spencer Hawes and Andres Nocioni who will help us immediately and provide us with additional front-court depth," team president and general manager Ed Stefanski said. "Spencer is a young seven-footer who will provide us with versatility at the center position, while Andres will provide us with a tough veteran presence."

Said Kings general manager Geoff Petrie: "We're excited about the acquisition of Samuel Dalembert. He will certainly bring a defensive presence and increase our ability to defend around the basket with his rebounding, shot-blocking and athleticism. I think he'll add a very different look to our team defensively and we're really excited about having him."

The Sixers have traded center Samuel Dalembert to Sacramento in exchange for Andres Nocioni and Spencer Hawes, the Daily News has confirmed.

The deal has been agreed to by both teams but has not been officially approved by the league, a source said.

The 6-7 Nocioni averaged 8.5 points and 3 rebounds in 75 games for Sacramento last season. For his career, he is averaging 11.3 points and 4.7 rebounds.

Hawes, a 7-1 center from the University of Washington, averaged 10 points and 6.1 rebounds in 72 games last season.

The Sixers have been trying to trade Dalembert for some time, and have been looking for a suitor. Sacramento has been a possible destination for more than year and has tried several times to finalize a deal.

Nocioni could bring some needed toughness to the Sixers and Hawes is a better fit at center, although he is a less effective shot blocker.

Nocioni has two years remaining on his contract, with an option for a third. The two years are valued at about $13 million. Hawes, a first-round draft pick in 2007, is still under his rookie deal.

Dalembert is now scheduled to make $14 million next season in the final year of his deal, thanks to a 15 percent trade kicker.

Dalembert was chosen in the first round of the 2001 draft and spent eight seasons with the Sixers, including playing all 82 games in each of the last four season. His career averages are 8.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game.

Hopefully this will be good for the 76ers and Dalembert. He appeared to be getting worse instead of better in Philadelphia. Since 2007 season his minutes, rebounds, points, and blocks have all decreased. Hopefully this will be the start of having the 76ers return to relevance.

i've dreamed of this day for years. good riddance dummybert. sixers haven't had a defender like nocioni since hill and lynch were in town and he can actually shoot. huge upside for hawes. great passer and shooter for a big man. first move stefanski has made that i like.

Nocioni will be a hell of alot easier to trade then Sammy could have ever been. And I have a sneaking suspicion that Nocioni has alot more left in the tank then we know of.
