Iguodala: Not paying attention to trade rumors
Bob Cooney
UPDATED: Andre Iguodala was on ESPN Radio's Scott Van Pelt show this afternoon, talking about the NBA Finals and his attendance at a seminar at Syracuse University for players to learn broadcasting skills.
Of course, though, he was asked his thoughts on the latest trade rumor:
“I really haven’t been paying too much attention to it," he said. "I don’t have control over it . My biggest thing this summer is I am trying to relax, and keep my mind off basketball … My thing is, things happen, let it happen and then react to it. I think it’s too early for me to start worrying about it.”

Sixers president Rod Thorn has been a busy man since the end of the season, saying he has talked to "over 20 teams" about "a variety of things."
The latest rumor that seems to be heating up has the Sixers dealing forward Andre Iguodala to Golden State for scoring guard Monta Ellis.
"We talk to teams daily about a variety of things," said Thorn this morning. "I've talke to 20 teams, over 20 teams, in the past couple of weeks. We have nothing to say right now about anything. There is nothing imminent."
Both Iguodala and Ellis have three years remaining on their current contracts, with Iguodala scheduled to make a little more than $42 million while Ellis will get about $33 million.
Ellis could provide the scorer the Sixers are searching for, as he averaged 24.1 points last season and 25.5 the season before. The Warriors just announced that they have hired former NBA point guard and television analyst Mark Jackson to be their new head coach.
Also, sources are saying that a sale of the Sixers could be just about complete. We are tracking down this story as it is happening.

I would think all trades and financial decesions would be put on hold pending the sale.....interesting. scootch
That would be a good trade for both teams. Monta Ellis is a pure scorer and the same type of player as Stephan Curry. Iggy is a big guard/small forwward and a polished defender. The Sixers would gain better scoring but lose a good defender. Monta Ellis is only 6'3" compared to Iggy who's 6'6" so they'd lose height as well. The Sixers lack a consistant scoring threat, so this deal makes since. This would also free up playing time for Evan Turner. Turner and Thad Young could duke it out for the starting 3 position. Still have Jody Meeks who'd be better served as a bench player. MrBigDizzle- Send Ellis to Utah and grab Al Jefferson.
Ellis starts at the 2, Meeks to the bench. Young starts at the 3. 2nd unit would consist of Meeks and Lou in the back court with Turner playing 3 and running point forward. Trade also frees up some money to get the Sixers away from the luxury tax, and could provide them another mid level exception. This trade makes them a better team b/c they need a guy who can score off the dribble. Iggy doesn't fit here any longer. beegal99
I would do this trade also but if I were the sixers I would be calling the thunder to see what it would take to get James Harden away from them bigger like one person said also can defend plus score. Even call about kevin martin (hou) and OJ Mayo but he had a good playoffs so do not know how that will go. lateef90
The new onwership said fire Ed Stanfanski before he does more damage to this team. 76er
I'm not an Iggy hater nor am I an Iggy lover. I just wanted us to get value back if we traded him. Sixers historically have gotten rid of their best player and gotten garbage in return (see A.I., Barkley, Moses and Wilt). Ellis is better than anyone we got in those deals. mtairy1
Ellis is big time scorer. Could be a defensive liability. But provides much more interesting possibilities than another year of Iggy.
We need a legitimate shot blocking, rebounding center. gba

- Nice knowing you, Iguo-dummer.
make the trade work please AlexSp
Unless 76'ers believe that Iggy's knee will be future issue, not the best trade for team. More scoring, less D camasbud
So Iggy's just chilling and staying away from basketball this summer? Sounds to me like someone thinks he can't get any better. Guess he doesn't watch his own games 'cause he can't shoot a lick. beegal99
