As the Miami Heat's lead grew to as many as 32 points last night, the chant started small then grew: "Fire Eddie, Fire Eddie."

Chants of "Fire Eddie" erupt during Sixers blowout loss

POSTED: Wednesday, February 17, 2010, 7:51 AM

The brave few who decided to stay during the fourth quarter last night apparently did so to send a message. And they voiced it loud and clear - "Fire Eddie. Fire Eddie."

The chant started with a select few in the third quarter, then grew as the Miami Heat's lead did. The problem with the chant was this: Which Eddie were they talking about - head coach Eddie Jordan or general manager Ed Stefanski?

It was the second worst loss of the season for the Sixers, who were beaten by 34 early in the season by the Boston Celtics. Little went right for the Sixers last night on either end of the floor. Though Jordan said his team played hard the entire game, that was hard to see during the second and third quarters when the team was outscored by a total of 56-31.

Adding to the loss was a shoulder injury to guard Willie Green, who had a contusion and an A/C ligament sprain to his left shoulder. That lent to Allen Iverson, in his first action since January 31 due to his daughter's illness, to play more than 26 minutes. Iverson was understandably rusty, shooting just 1-for-7 and scoring four points. Jordan said after the game that Green might be available by Thursday.

I'm pretty sure that by "Eddie", the poor souls who paid to watch the game were referring to the man whose name is "Eddie".

Blow the whole team up! The only players they should keep are Young, Holiday and Speights. Although Speights needs to learn how to defend.

People were THERE? Who? They deserve medals for showing up for this team. At least they got a chance to chant something.

ALL 3 (Jordan, Stefanski, Snider)! Also, Willie Green is a huge, huge loss. There go our title hopes. And we were so close!

They were chanting for ANYONE named Eddie who works for the team! God bless those fans - can you say refund?? Keep the coach until the team figures out what they are gonna do with their players. No sense in firing this coach just to pay another to "supposedly coach" a bad team. And hold off on firing Ed S. until after the trade deadline depending on what he does. In my view the coach is the only one holding up his end of the bargain which is helping this team lose! NO point in making the 8th seed in the playoffs just to get bounced a few games later.

Hey hey. Ho ho Eddie has to go! Hey hey, Ho ho Eddie (Jordan) has to go. Get ready to hear this chant at every Sixers home game until management does it's job and gets rid of this incompetent fool.

Young is going nowhere as far as his game is concerned with Jordan at the helm. Coach is supposed to develop these guys...He is clearly getting worse. But all in all no defensive accountability at all from anyone.

How about Eddie Snyder. He has been in charge of the Sixers for 14 years, and they've been under.500 for the majority. If you count the Flyers, he is on a run of 47 consecutive seasons of professional franchises, without a championship ( Flyers- 33 years since 1975-76, and Sixers- 14 years). Fire THAT Eddie, too.

I didn't think that many people attended these games where a chant could be heard.

It's so sad that we are stuck with three clowns Ed, ED and Eddie, this is flat out horrible, they've sucked basketball right out of Philadelphia, COMCAST PLEASE FIRE ALL THREE!!!!!!! if you want to make a profit which is why you bought the team fire them immediately you won't be able to give away tickets in a week or so, I refuse to watch another game until this clueless bunch is gone, and what's even worse is all of Ed Stefanki's relatives are all rushing to his defense, so for your punishment they should be forced to go to evey Sixers game as long as he's running the team and what every minute of the game, The Sixers is a horrible disgrace and its so sad.. If this trade is not done to get IGGY and Dalembert out of town so these Young guys can play and free up cap space and Stefanski is not fire I will burn every piece of Modern Sixers gear I have, I will cancel Comcast and switch to Dish network just so I won't be tempted to watch this nightmare. Please get rid of these cartoon network characters.

BOTH - That said, Stefanski first. He's the moron that put this team together, capped the team out (as it currently stands) essentially till 2013, and hired this imbecile as head coach. Total brilliance. Once Stefanski goes, Jordan will follow quickly.
