Andres Nocioni to sit for unspecified time

POSTED: Sunday, January 16, 2011, 3:42 PM

It took a while, but Sixers forward Andres Nocioni has decided that the finger that he fractured against the Chicago Bulls on January 7th will force him to miss games.

Coach Doug Collins said after today's practice at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine that Nocioni "would shut it down" for a while. Collins said that rookie Evan Turner and guard Lou Williams will probably pick up the extra minutes that will be available in Nocioni's absence.

Nocioni has been a versatile part for Collins, starting in the absence of Andre Igudala recently, and providing some scoring, rebounding and much-needed toughness for the Sixers, who willl host the Charlotte Bobcats tomorrow afternoon.

The sixers would be better off if collins used the bench more.
