im disgusted! welcome to philly andre blatche! nightmare! johnGiam- I wrote a long post this morning (which was not put on screen) which dealt with the fact that the top level agents want nothing to do with the city of Philadelphia. Too much bling and glitter with LA, NYC, Miami, and even Chicago. This is a big problem for the Sixers.
For that very reason, I hope the Sixers keep Iggy and let his professionalism rub off on the young troops. Obviously the team needs at a minimum a viable power forward and a back up point guard. But the experience of a veteran in his prime who is respected enough to be on the Olympic team is crucial in terms of moving the franchise forward. I keep thinking of the playoff game against Boston in Philly when Dre took the last second rebound of a missed free throw and went coast to coast in an attempt to dunk the ball and win the game which in fact his two free throws did. I gained a lot of respect for the man that night.
I think Collins & Co. are doing a good job in rebuilding. I am sure it is not as simple as it looks. This is not fantasy basketball. World
Bearsfriend KNOWS WHAT'S UP with OUR 76ers! BF, give us the INSIDE SCOOP! Love your posts! YOU Rock! dudega
I like Iggy and think he could be a great 3rd player for a championship team, but keeping him here is such a waste.
Argument 1: Iggy is one of the best defenders in the league.
I always thought he was, but why has he never been on an All Defense team?
Argument 2: Iggy is now an Olympian! We have to keep him!
Oh yes he made the Olympic team after Dwight Howard, Derrick Rose, Chauncey Billups, LaMarcus Aldridge, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh couldn't make it from injury.
And we are really setting ourselves up for next year. Nobody is saying Oh I will go to Philly because Andre is there...he has an Opt-Out and I know he won't pull a Lou and opt out for less money...
Please get a Jazz big man, but if we kept Iggy and traded Turner for something worthwhile I'll take it...Can't take one more year of it. The Villain ET
This "just in"...The sixers are signing Jrue's older bro, Justin, and now Bravo is starting a new reality series entitled, "Swing Men!" Shragez
Ironically, one of the better power forwards at the summer league might be Levan Shengelia, who the Sixers flipped to the Nets; watch the game today against the Sixers, 6:9, 260, quick, can drive, can shoot deep, defends, runs the floor very well real good hands, would not be surprised if the Nets add him to their already solid roster. chuckw- Tornike Shengelia runs 6'9",228...and is going to be a 3...He is far advanced for a 20 year old, and it appears both DiLeo and Witte were having cheesesteaks at Larry's at 54th and City Ave when the Georgian became "runnerup MVP" in the Euro Combine one month ago...Watch out for another foreign player in Mirza Teletovic, a Bosnian power forward who was a top player in Spain this past year...Billy King has obviously been "in focus", as the Nets are dotting i's and crossing t's.

Rumor has it that the Rockets will amnesty Luis Scola, the 6:9 power forward as part of the never-ending Dwight Howard saga. Would be an interesting fit with the Sixers. chuckw
Chuck...i saw the game today. Shengelia looked good. Much more polished than anyone we had on the floor. But, i guess, we already have a Vucevic. Shragez
chuckw - your observation re. Lavoy Allen is rather discouraging. Guy signs a contract and shows up fat and out of shape. Doesn't speak much for his maturity. He's got some time before camp begins - hope he uses it wisely ...
As for Shengelia, it seems that NBA scouts are rather dismissive of European players. They seem much more willing to draft for "potential" with US kids than Europeans. It's like they're looking for "finished products" from Europe. Thoughts? ... FishFryFrank
FishFryFrank: Allen has time to get in shape for camp and I would hope he lays off the burgers until next summer. He wasn't all that fat but had packed on some unnecessary pounds. chuckw
I think it will be Al Jefferson. That would be ideal for the Sixers. They might have to include another player so give them Hawes. He is signed. Jefferson would give us the veteran we need on a roster full of youngsters. Plus he would give us scoring and rebounding. Horlet
