HOUSTON - A Western Conference source said that the Portland Trail Blazers are said to be looking at Sixers forward/center Marreese Speights.

As a proposed trade, the Blazers offered forward Dante Cunningham, a Villanova product, as well as a second-round draft pick.

The Sixers do not appear to be interested in such a move.

gotta love a chance to get a high character Nova boy. Speights, 95% of the time, is a barking dog!!!

yea its good to get a high character guy but how about getting one that can actually play in the league cause Cunningham will be in Europe in a year or 2. Speights can actually score and on a team like Phoenix could be a beast.

Cunningham would be a good fit for this team, solid defender and good team player. Speights doesn't play and is a liability on defense when he comes in. But in a more important matter, hopefully a team makes a trade offer for Iguodola that the Sixers can't refuse.

Naw, Mo Speights has the potential to be a high volume scorer in this league on the RIGHT team (Suns, Magic, maybe Blazers behind Aldrige) although he struggles at everything else (rebounding, defense, etc). I really like the Nova kid Cunningham but only way Blazers get Speights is by giving us a first RD pick.

Agreed. Portland will likely have a 1st rounder right around 20. That's appropriate value considering we drafted him at 16.

Also, this reported trade doesn't work with salaries according to ESPN's NBA trade simulator. We'd have to take back Sean Marks or Patrick Mills, too. Nothing major.

    ridiculous proposal
I don't even like Speights but he has to be worth more than Cunningham and a 2nd.

Can we package Speights with those three white guys at the end of the bench and get a big who plays on both ends of the court... those white guys aren't that horrible and they have some value in expiring cap room in the next two years.

I can't see the Sixers doing this trade. Obviously, Collins isn't in love with Speights but he is the first center off the bench lately for a rather undersized team and is a piece of some importance for the remainder of the season and the playoffs. I can't see the team making a trade that makes them smaller than they are now and Portland's second round pick has no kicker value.
