You will walk with them, arm in arm, shoulder to shoulder, breast to breast, head to head, with these, the valiant stars of 'Dark Knight Rises," live! and in real time!

Ah, the dreams we dream, such dreams we enjoy, so many dreams varied and diverse.

But the greatest of our dreams is to walk the red carpet, arm in arm, shoulder-to-shoulder with Batman!

Can’t have reality? There’s always the virtual! The video uplink!

Tonight’s New York Red Carpet Premiere of the new Batman pic, The Dark Knight Rises, will be streamed – live! – this evening courtesy of a company named NowLive. (It’s a great promo for the company, n’est ce pas?)

Yes, it’s free.

The personages you should expect to see – live! – at the star-studded event include Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Morgan Freeman, and director/writer/producer Christopher Nolan, writers Jonathan Nolan and David S. Goyer, and producers Emma Thomas and Charles Roven.

It’ll be better than being there in person. (I mean, you can watch it in your favorite Hanna Barbera PJs!)

The circus begins this afternoon at 6 p.m. Eastern Time (3 p.m. Pacific) and can be enjoyed on this webpage (http://www.nowlive.com/thedarkknightrises.)

About this blog
Tirdad Derakhshani was born in Tehran, Iran, and raised in London and rural North Jersey, where he closely studied a theoretical, radical post-Hegelian approach to cow-tipping. He moved to Philadelphia in the mid-‘80s to seek enlightenment, and instead received a B.A. in literature at Penn. While pursuing doctoral studies in modern religious thought and philosophy, he worked at the Inquirer as a news clerk, researcher, editor, and entertainment writer.

He hopes SideShow will help citizens better understand the vicissitudes of the Consumerist-Military-Industrial-Infotainment Complex, or, in other words, why Britney Spears has a tendency to shave her head, Brangelina to adopt children, and Lindsay Lohan to crave imprisonment. Read SideShow every morning.
