Football kills Sunday night

Football game Sunday dominated ratings

Guess sweaty jocks win our hearts far more easily than beautiful, oft-scantily-clad (in frilly pink 'n' black lace and silk ...) desperate housewives.

Americans were by and far more fulfilled, satisfied and aroused Sunday night watching the wondrously male Jameel McClain secure a touchdown for the Ravens after taking a fumble by the Jets' turnover king, Mark Sanchez, than in watching the wondrously female Eva Longoria preparing a "sexy surprise" for her on-screen hub Ricardo Chavira in a bid to "help him gain his sexual mojo back" (to quote IMDB's words).

The New York Jets' ill-fated meeting Sunday with the Baltimore Ravens (Ravens won 34 to 17) on NBC's Sunday Night Football topped the ratings, drawing 17.7 mil viewers, according to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen. That's double any entertainment program.

CBS' newsmagazine 60 Minutes, which on Sunday featured Andy Rooney's farewell commentary, was in second place in terms of total viewership, with 16 mil.

About 9 mil fans tuned in for ABC's Desperate Housewives which drew its lowest ratings yet for a non-rerun episode.
