Phila. schools' HR Chief is out

POSTED: Thursday, December 8, 2011, 11:43 AM

Estelle Matthews, the Philadelphia School District's Human Resources chief, is out.

It's not yet clear the circumstances surrounding her departure, but Matthews' last day was yesterday, a district employee who answered Matthews' phone said.

District spokesman Fernando Gallard said he could not confirm Matthews' departure.

"We do not have an official announcement," Gallard said. "When we do have an announcement, we will be sharing it."

Matthews was close with controversial former superintendent Arlene Ackerman, who brought her to the district from a position in human resources at the bank now known as Wells Fargo.

This is a developing story.  Please check back for updates.

SInce the SDP is not in a hiring mode it would seem as though her job was considered unnecessary.

I always find it ironic when HR managers get fired. Guess her Christmas present was a pink slip, huh? LOL

Keep Going....There are many in the PSD that need to find other jobs. Being a teacher, or an adminstrator, requires a certain calling for the job.

How does it feel to be a part of the 99%, Estelle Matthews. I don't know what you look like but I bet you wore stupid glasses too, didn't you?

Ironic that her name is at the bottom of my School District layoff letter yet she got canned before I did. Sweet justice.

She wasn't HR chief; her title was Chief Talent Officer-always felt as if I were applying to be on a talent show and I don't dance, sing or juggle well! Ridiculous title for an absurd person. One of Ar's gals. Not sorry to see her go, since she wasn't teacher friendly either.

Hooray! Matthews presided over much of the turmoil that engulfed the district this past year. Good bye!

The woman was a bully and as stupid as they come. She said and did the most inappropriate things imaginable and seemed to think she was immune. There are a lot of people rejoicing today.
    Just sayin...
