7 arrested after Lincoln High lockdown

Three separate fights caused Lincoln High School to be locked down for 45 minutes today.
City police arrested seven students, said Fernando Gallard, a spokesman for the Philadelphia School District.
The lockdown started at 1:15 and was lifted at about 2 p.m., Gallard said.
"At this point, the school is looking into what started the fights," he said.
Lincoln, on Ryan Avenue in the Northeast, has about 1,800 students.

Were they wearing Romney\Ryan t-shirts? Commentdant_Klink
That school is a MESS! The PSD built a brand new school with $70 MILLION dollars they didn't have, but while they have the a shiny new building they have the same disruptive kids. I went to the OLD Lincoln about 20 some years ago & believe me it was no cake-walk then but at least it was do-able. They need to make this a SPECIAL admissions school with central-like standards. Or a true neighborhood school. The people of that area deserve that. (In fact that's what they were promised when the new building was proposed) kennedy2
Sylvester Stallone would not be happy! elfman
You guys should write another article about the benefits of the diversification of northeast philly. Dr. Kenneth Noisewater- If, by "diversification," you meant "absence of racist, milquetoast d-bags like yours truly, who's brave enough only to post racist drivel on the internet and give black people the stink-eye, but only when they're not looking" then yes, I'd say that that's a might fine idea.

i find it hard to feel sorry for the people in the northeast.they will be led to the polls next month by the democrat machine and the johnny doc union thugs voting straight party line. seanmike- Uh-huh. And I suppose that you have such a nuanced appreciation for the issues that you won't be voting straight party line?

I normally do not back unions, but with schools like these, the teachers unions do have a valid argument as to why their reviews and raises should not be related to student performance. The majority of these kids have homes that do not care/raise/love them and it is hard to suceed when your parents are pieces of trash dcn
Maybe they can say it was a joke, like Lynette Gaymon did. We jus playin! LouDiamondPhillipsheadScrewdriver
I was in the Lincoln class of '78. I can't believe how far my school has fallen. It's a damn shame. @seanmike: You know what they say about the word "assume". I'm not naive enough to think that most people in this city won't vote democrat, but I CAN tell you that of all the neighborhoods in this city, the NE is the one that is more than capable of not being affected by party goons. Everyone is very respectful at my polling place; the most anyone will do is hand you their party's printed ballot at the designated distance they must keep from the actual polls. drbob1
You don't get placed on the "Persistently Dangerous School List" 7 STRAIGHT YEARS for nothing! They should hang a plaque or something.
