7 arrested after Lincoln High lockdown

Three separate fights caused Lincoln High School to be locked down for 45 minutes today.
City police arrested seven students, said Fernando Gallard, a spokesman for the Philadelphia School District.
The lockdown started at 1:15 and was lifted at about 2 p.m., Gallard said.
"At this point, the school is looking into what started the fights," he said.
Lincoln, on Ryan Avenue in the Northeast, has about 1,800 students.

- they don't bus kids there. they all live in the neighborhood. the catchment area for lincoln is huge. they receive students that legitimately live in the neighborhood. keep in mind, they didn't say who or what race of those who got arrested were. therefore, your comment is purely hypothetical. the northeast has been changing for the past ten or so years and the ppl. who traditionally have lived there have not made it easy for the "new comers". if you think the mitt supporter from the other school was bullied, then what do you think these kids and families have endured over the course of them moving to northeast?
ceage - Then why move there? The property values or plummeting and the neighborhoods are getting worse because of them. You don't see many white people moving to N. Philly, and if they did, what kind of welcome would they get?Hmmmmm...

I guess the lions and tigers were not feed yet. aguckin- The funny thing is, I wouldn't be surprised if those "lions and tigers" would've been able to write what you posted, but using the proper tense of "feed". Moron.
wb2nd - You're a great one to talk, wb2nd. "...would've been able..."
Come on! Everyone knows it's "...would of been able...".
Oh, wait...maybe I've been reading the Comments too long. Nevermind. Tatt2

I guess that pop quiz didn't go over so well. deanwermer- Sad when a neighborhood school is brought down by 'outsiders' who can't keep their own neighborhood schools in check. They are sent out to ruin others. Ben Fan
- Teenagers love to rally when there is a fight. Seven students got arrested. That does not mean that 1800 students are thugs. The school has too many students. The building was supposed to have 1400. Even that is an unreasonable number. South Phila High is now under 1000 students and the problems have really decreased there. Myturn
Neighborhood schools obviously are preferable to busing in outsiders. Parents and students have a right to their own local schools. A lot of kids could walk to school and it would be more convenient for parent-teacher meetings. Also when the student body is all from the surrounding community, a learning atmosphere is less likely to be disrupted in class. For some reason, the school district does not want neighborhood schools. Falls Ed
Oh well. according to the new temporary superintendent (and I mean temporary because they don't last too long, since they take as much money as they can before they leave for the next victim) "they can't arrest their way to school safety." That's the mentality we had before they ever created a school police department, and had to put police in schools because of all the violence. It only gets worse. They bring people with one liners that don't work. First it was "imagine." My kid can't imagine graduating high school, she has to work for it. Now we have the next asinine one liner "we can't arrest our way to school safety." But... a 15 year old shoots people in the subway and it's fine with the new super, since it didn't happen on school property. But a student can try to strangle my child and the administration comes up with the next one liner. Time to start looking for the next one liner owner. Hite won't be here too long. sdp mother
