Philadelphia police are reportedly investigating a claim made by a young woman who said she was sexually assaulted by an on-duty officer in the early hours of this morning. The department has not commented on the allegations, but said an officer is under investigation by the Internal Affairs Bureau and the Special Victims unit for improper conduct while on duty.

Sources said the woman and the officer came into contact at 52nd and Market Streets, and that the woman later reported the assault several hours ago at the West Philadelphia-based 18th Police District.

Sources say the officer's patrol car is being processed for evidence.

More details will likely be forthcoming later today.
