SPRING-FORD 35, PENNRIDGE 24
In the end, Spring-Ford's decision to rest its first-teamers in a Thanksgiving Day blowout loss paid a sizable dividend.
In Saturday afternoon's PIAA District 1 Class AAAA semifinal playoff against Pennridge, which used most of its starters in a holiday victory over Quakertown, the more-rested Rams triumphed, 35-24, at Poppy Yoder Field.

Pennridge junior running back Mike Class is questionable for Saturday afternoon's PIAA District 1 Class AAAA playoff against Spring-Ford due to concussion-related symptoms.
Rams coach Randy Cuthbert said the 5-foot-10, 175-pounder, who has rushed for an area-best 2,359 yards and 31 touchdowns, would be evaluated Saturday morning by a specialist.
"We'll see," Cuthbert said Friday night. "If he's in good shape and OK, he'll play. But it's up to the doctor at this point."

COATESVILLE 63, NESHAMINY 28
Coatesville's quick-striking, speed-laden offense was way too much for Neshaminy's usually staunch defense.
The No. 9-seeded Red Raiders posted five of their nine touchdowns in the first half, totaled 515 yards of offense, and emphatically ousted the No. 13 Redskins, 63-28, Friday night in a PIAA District 1 Class AAAA semifinal playoff.

ST. JOE'S PREP 35, MALVERN PREP 6
There was a chance that St. Joseph's Prep, less than two weeks after a heartbreaking loss to archrival La Salle, would have little left in the motivation tank for its Thanksgiving Day game against Malvern Prep.
"You would think that would be the case, but that's not the way we function," senior defensive tackle Paul Johnson said. "The guys on this team are freak competitors."

The Thanksgiving Day football game between Central and Northeast will be televised live on The Comcast Network.
The Central-Northeast matchup, scheduled for 10 a.m. at Charlie Martin Memorial Stadium, is the granddaddy of all Thanksgiving Day games. It began in 1892, when Benjamin Harrison was president.
Northeast has a 55-51-10 lead in the series. The Vikings prevailed, 27-20, last season.
