Pennsbury's Charles Snorweah, a speedy junior running back, orally committed to Rutgers during a visit to the school on Friday.

"There's such a family bond here," the 5-foot-10, 170-pounder said. "Also, I feel like I'll get a great education. And lastly, I want the chance to compete for a Big Ten championship."

Last season, while helping spark the Falcons to a 10-2 record and the Suburban One League National Conference title, Snorweah carried 145 times for 1,476 yards and 22 touchdowns. He was an Inquirer second-team all-Southeastern Pennsylvania selection.

It was Snorweah's third unofficial visit to Rutgers. "It's an opportunity for Charles to go to a great university and play in an excellent conference," Pennsbury coach Galen Snyder said.

Snorweah, of Levittown, also took unofficial visits to Massachusetts, Pittsburgh, and Temple. North Carolina was likewise in the mix.

Of Rutgers head coach Kyle Flood, Snorweah said, "He's like a father to a lot of the players. He cares about you as a person just as much as a football player."

Snorweah also excels in track and field. In the outdoor season, the 17-year-old competes in the 60-, 200-, and 400-meter dash. Indoors, he has been clocked at 6.57 seconds for 55 meters.

In football, Snorweah also plays cornerback and is a kick returner.
