Kevin Pellegrini has stepped down as Malvern Prep coach after five seasons. He compiled a 37-17 record and won three Inter-Academic League championships.

Citing personal reasons, Kevin Pellegrini has stepped down as Malvern Prep's head football coach after five seasons.

According to a release issued by the school, Pellegrini spoke to his players Monday morning.

"I love representing Malvern football and I love coaching you guys," Pellegrini said to his players. "But at this point in my life, I am not able to give the time that this program deserves. I want you to be excited for this change, because Malvern will find a coach with talent, know-how, and the commitment that you need. I am an alumnus and will always be a part of this program. I look forward to watching you play."

Pellegrini compiled a 37-17 (.685 winning percentage) overall record and guided the Friars to three Inter-Academic League championships. He posted a 20-5 mark in league action.

Pellegrini, who played football at Malvern (Class of 1990) and Georgetown, replaced his father, Gaspare "Gamp" Pellegrini, as the Friars coach in 2009.

Kevin Pellegrini is an insurance broker. He and his wife, Kaitlin, have three sons.
