Shep Garner recorded 11 points, five assists, four steals, and four rebounds in Monday's 77-48 romp over Father Judge in a Catholic League matchup in Mayfair. The Penn State signee nailed three first-quarter treys.


With five players scoring in double digits, Roman Catholic blew open a close game and buried Catholic League rival Father Judge, 77-48, Monday night in Mayfair.

Down by 17-14 in the second quarter, the visting Cahillites, sparked by sophomore lead guard Tony Carr, put together a 16-3 run. They were ahead, 34-23, at intermission.

Carr, who transferred in from Abington Friends, finished with eight assists, seven points (all in the second frame), six steals and two rebounds.

Senior guard Rashann London, a Drexel commit, produced a team-high 17 points, four assists, and four steals. After missing his first five field-goal attempts, he was 8 for 9 from the floor.

Also reaching double digits were Gemil Holbrook (12), Shep Garner (11), Manny Taylor (11), and D'Andre Vilmar (10).

The Penn State-bound Garner posted five assists, four steals, and four boards. He drilled three shots from beyond the arc in the opening eight minutes.

Ahead by 41-34, Roman closed the third quarter with a 10-3 spurt that included Vilmar's three-point play, TreVaughn Wilkerson's inside bucket, and Holbrook's left-wing trey.

The Cahillites (7-3) opened the fourth stanza with a 13-2 explosion, making it 64-40.

Point guard Will Brazukas led Judge, which was hurt by 24 turnovers (10 in the second quarter and seven in the fourth), with 14 points. Fellow junior Pat Mulville, a junior forward, chipped in eight points and six assists.

Holbrook and Vilmar gathered six and five boards, respectively; Wilkerson dished three assists.
