Imhotep Charter's Deandre Scott, a speedy multipurpose performer, has orally committed to play at Arizona State.
The 5-foot-9, 175-pound senior, who is projected to be a defensive back at the next level, informed the Sun Devils of his decision Saturday.
Scott, who has helped spark the Panthers to a 10-1 record and the District 12 Class AA championship, also considered Kanasas, Nebraska, Central Florida and Temple, among others. His only official visit was to Nebraska.
He is scheduled to take an official visit to Arizona State at the end of January.
One of the Sun Devils' current standouts is wide receiver Jaelen Strong, a redshirt sophomore who played for West Catholic. He transferred to Arizona State from Pierce (Calif.) College.
In addition to playing safety, Scott also excels as a running back and kick returner. He was an Inquirer second-team all-Southeastern Pennsylvania selection as a defensive back last season.
