Rip Engel, a savvy and quick senior point guard, is enrolled at Pennsbury after transferring in from Suburban One League National Conference rival Council Rock North.

Pennsbury's petition to gain athletic eligibility for senior basketball player Rip Engel, who transferred in from Council Rock North, was denied in a vote by a District 1 committee Wednesday at Westover Country Club in Jeffersonville. The petition was challenged by Council Rock North administrators.

Engel, a savvy and quick point guard, played for two seasons at Council Rock North. He started his career at Roman Catholic.

Pennsbury can appeal the district's decision, on Engel's behalf, to the PIAA within 30 days of Wednesday's vote. The PIAA board is scheduled to meet early next month.

Last season, Engel and C.R. North, which competes against Pennsbury in the Suburban One League National Conference, fell to Harriton in the first round of the District 1 Class AAAA playoffs.
