The skinny: Shurmur was impressive in 7-on-7 drills over the summer; the hard-nosed Meachum could get 15-20 carries a game; Hardy (first 400-meter leg) was part of the distance medley relay team that won the Championship of America at the Penn Relays; Hudak, who has committed to Brown for lacrosse, will be a fixture at cornerback; Herron, a threat out of the Wildcat formation, and Grezeszak joined the squad after playing baseball.

Gordon says: "I think we'll be competitive. A lot depends on how the kids who haven't played before come along."
