Baseball: Golden Bears punch a ticket to state final

Tommy Robinson twirled a two-hitter as Upper Moreland downed error-plagued Keystone Oaks, 3-1, Tuesday in a PIAA Class AAA baseball semifinal at Green Township Park in Scotland.

The Golden Bears, who moved to within a win of their first state title, grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. With their District 7 foe committing four errors, all three of their runs were unearned.

While going the distance, Robinson struck out three and walked none. "His performance was excellent," Upper Moreland coach Ernie Rehr said.

In Friday's state final, set for 1 p.m. at Penn State, the Golden Bears will take on District 3's West York, a 5-4 semifinal winner over District 2's Abington Heights.

In the first against Keystone Oaks, Robert Knox (single) and courtesy runner Kyle Bennis scored on errors. Matt Kohn did the same in the third, when Knox's hit up the middle was misplayed.
