Florida's Sharrif Floyd, a 6-foot-3, 297-pound defensive tackle from George Washington High, was selected with the No. 23 overall pick in the NFL darft by the Minnesota Vikings Thursday night.

“I’m ready to get started" Floyd said to the NFL Network's Deion Sanders. "The Minnesota Vikings did a great thing in selecting me.”

In 2009, his senior season at Washington, Floyd, a Northeast Philly native, was an Inquirer first-team all-Southeastern Pennsylvania selection on defense.
