Harriton has tabbed Justin Mellor, formerly the defensive coordinator at Haverford High, as its new football coach.

"I’ve been working toward this since I was a senior in high school," the 37-year-old said. "To have it come to fruition, it’s unbelievably exciting."

Mellor, 37, spent the last 15 seasons coaching at Haverford, where he is a math teacher. The Oreland resident played fullback and linebacker at Upper Dublin in the early 1990s.

Mellor, who studied at Indiana University Bloomington, replaces Matt Barr, who stepped down after six seasons.
