Marquis Edwards, a speedy senior halfback and cornerback who played at Northeast last season, has been cleared to play for Public League Class AAAA rival George Washington, according to sources familiar with the situation.

District 12 signed off on the transfer, which means the 5-8, 185-pound Edwards is eligible to play Saturday (6 p.m. at Northeast) against Springside Chestnut Hill Academy.

Elsewhere, Bonner-Prendergast's appeal to the PIAA on behalf of senior Sonkarly Winpea, who transferred in from Upper Darby, is scheduled for Sept. 11.

Bonner-Prendergast lost a regional-panel hearing to have the 5-9, 180-pound Winpea, a halfback and cornerback, cleared to play football at his new school.

Winpea is reportedly eligible to compete in track and field at Bonner-Prendergast. In May, competing for Upper Darby in the Central League individual championships, he had a clocking of  12.0 seconds in the 100-meter dash
