Football: Thumbnail Sketch of Haverford School

POSTED: Friday, August 17, 2012, 9:03 PM

Haverford School

Coach: Mike Murphy, 34-40 in seven seasons.

Last year: 6-4 overall; 3-2 Inter-Academic League.

Offense: Multiple/Option.

Defense: 3-4.

Top returnees: Matt Galambos, TE-LB, 6-2, 235; Semaj Reed, TE-DE, 6-7, 260; Aron Morgan, PK-P, 6-1, 175; Chris Morgan, WR-DB, 6-1, 185; Steve Fitzgerald, QB, 5-11, 190; Stewart Denious, TE-DE, 6-4, 210; Joe Solomon, OL-DE, 6-1, 215; Hannibal Mathis, WR-CB, 5-10, 180; Darren Watson, WR-DB, 5-10, 180; Anthony Hill, RB-DB, 5-9, 165; Phil Poquie, RB-LB, 5-9, 180.

Mike Murphy: "I think it's a very balanced year in the Inter-Ac. I think we have the potential to have a big year."

Notes: Galambos will play LB at Pitt; big question mark is the OL, with four starters gone; Morgan, who hit nine FGs last season, is hearing from Penn and Cornell (Virginia sniffing as well); Reed is drawing interest mostly from Patriot League schools (also Division I-A Buffalo); Fitzgerald, a strong safety last season, will likely play baseball in college.
