Hoops: Friends' Central names Tozer as new coach

Friends' Central has tabbed Ryan Tozer to be its new boys' varsity basketball coach.

Tozer spent the last three seasons as head men's coach at Rosemont College. Before that, he was an assistant for two years at Holy Family and one at La Salle University.

Tozer, 29, scored 1,100 career points at Friends' Central (Class of 2001). At Eastern University, in St. Davids, he finished with 1,268 points and was a three-time all-Pennsylvania Athletic Conference selection.

The Media resident replaces Jason Polykoff, who stepped down after five seasons to become an assistant at Penn.

At Friends' Central, Tozer will be a middle-school math teacher and serve as sports information director.
