Baseball: PIAA District 1 Playoff Pairings



Council Rock South, Interboro, Hatboro-Horsham, and Downingtown East were among the top seeds in the 24-team PIAA District 1 Class AAAA baseball tournament. Seedings were announced Thursday night.

The top four seeds in the North (No. 1 C.R. South, No. 2 Hatboro-Horsham, No. 3 Upper Dublin, No. 4 Spring-Ford) and South (No. 1 Interboro, No. 2 Downingtown East, No. 3 Downingtown West, No. 4 Penncrest) received opening-round byes.

In Class AAA, Upper Moreland gained the top seed in an eight-team tourney.

In Class AA, with only two teams participating, No. 2 seed Devon Prep will meet No. 1 seed Springfield-Montco on May 25 for the right to advance to the state tournament.

Finally, in Class A, Bristol heads a seven-team field.

No. 8 Sun Valley at No. 1 Upper Moreland; No. 5 Pope John Paul II at No. 4 Lower Moreland; No. 7 Holy Ghost Prep at No. 2 Phoenixville; No. 6 Upper Perkiomen at No. 3 Chichester.

No. 2 Devon Prep vs. No. 1 Springfield-Montco, at Great Valley.

Class A

May 22

No. 5 Delco Christian at No. 4 Church Farm; No. 7 Friends Select at No. 2 Calvary Christian; No. 6 Christopher Dock at No. 3 Jenkintown.
