Archbishop Wood's Nate Smith, a multipurpose standout, has switched his commitment from West Virginia to Temple.

Archbishop Wood's Nate Smith, a speedy safety and wide receiver, has switched his commitment to Temple from West Virginia.

In October, the 6-foot, 190-pound senior committed to play for the Mountaineers, with the Owls believed to be the runner-up for his services.

Last season, Smith, after playing his first three years at George Washington, helped the Vikings claim the PIAA Class AAA state championship.

An Inquirer first-team all-Southeastern Pennsylvania selection, he is expected to be a defensive back for Temple.
