St. Joe's Prep junior guard Steve Vasturia commits to play basketball at Notre Dame

St. Joseph's Prep junior guard Steve Vasturia will announce his decision to play college basketball at Notre Dame in a 2:30 p.m. Tuesday press conference in the school's library.

Tony Sagona, Vasturia's AAU coach with the Jersey Shore Warriors, revealed the news early Tuesday afternoon.

Prep coach Speedy Morris said Vasturia, a 6-foot-4, 180-pound combination guard, also visited Boston College, Georgetown, Northwestern, Villanova, and Temple.

Vasturia, with 20-plus scholarship offers, was also being recruited by Stanford, Clemson, Seton Hall, and Davidson, among others.

Last season, Vasturia, mostly playing point guard, averaged about 18 points a game while helping the Hawks to a 14-9 overall record and 8-5 mark in the Catholic League.
