Damiere Shaw, a quick-footed wide receiver and cornerback from Cardinal O'Hara, orally committed to Temple Thursday.

The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder said he expects to play cornerback for the Owls. "There's a certain feeling you get when you shut down the other team's top receiver," said the 17-year-old from Ridley Park.

Shaw, who last season helped the Lions go 9-2 and reach the Catholic League Class AAA championship game, also had scholarship offers from Buffalo and Stony Brook.

Temple's other Southeastern Pennsylvania recruits for the Class of 2012 include Upper Perkiomen wide receiver Ronnie Gillespie, Archbishop Wood running back Brandon Peoples, and Neshaminy defensive end Kiser Terry.
