Archbishop Carroll names new baseball coach

Chris Dengler has been tabbed as the new varsity baseball coach at Archbishop Carroll High.

Dengler, a 2007 Carroll graduate, was a three-year starter for the Patriots. He was a utility man, primarily playing first and third base, and pitcher.

In 70 varsity games, Dengler batted .323 with 38 RBIs and six home runs. On the hill, he was 14-9 with a 3.62 ERA.

A shoulder injury shortened his career at the University of Delaware, and he eventually transferred to West Chester University.

Dengler was a Carroll assistant the last two seasons, serving as the head jayvee coach in 2010.
