Riley Cooper takes leave of absence - Zach Berman, Inquirer

Riley Cooper has been excused from all team activities until he seeks counseling, the team announced Friday. That means Cooper will not practice or attend meetings with the team for a seemingly indefinite period.

Some players remain as odds with what Cooper said. The Eagles held another team meeting today, sans Cooper, where several leaders spoke. Jason Avant, Jeremy Maclin, DeMeco Ryans and Jon Dorenbos were among those who spoke, cornerback Cary Williams said.

"It’s great to have a conversation about it, but you got to have the guys that have an issue come out and say something about the situation," Williams said. "And I would rather the offender to be in present so everybody could have an understanding of where individuals are coming from.”

After team meeting, Eagles look to turn page - Tim McManus, Birds 24/7

“We have big things that we want to accomplish this year, and we don’t want that to be a burden on our season — that’s what our coach said about this locker room,” said DeSean Jackson after practice. “As far as the leaders speaking up in meetings, people want to see us stay together and not let this break our team apart.”

Are you willing to still play with Riley?

“It’s my job, brother,” Jackson responded. “I’m here. Gotta work.”

Training camp nutshell: Kelce has muscle fatigue - Reuben Frank, CSN Philly

Jason Kelce hasn’t played football in nearly a year, and he expected days like Friday to happen.

Kelce, who underwent knee surgery last fall and missed almost the entire 2012 season, skipped several drills with the first offense at practice Friday because of what he described as muscle fatigue.

WR wide open - Tommy Lawlor, IgglesBlitz

Jeremy Maclin is out with a torn ACL. Arrelious Benn is dealing with a minor knee injury. BJ Cunningham has been cut. Cooper is off doing his thing. Suddenly, WR is a thin position.

The Eagles do have an open roster spot. You can bet they are looking around. Here are some of the top guys available:

Donald Jones
Steve Breaston
Early Doucet
Jabar Gaffney
Mike Sims-Walker

Jimmy Note: Gross.

Running daily: Eagles practice observations - Sheil Kapadia, Birds 24/7

7-on-7s. Matt Barkley throws one of his best balls of the week, hitting Ifeanyi Momah on an intermediate out between two defenders. Excellent anticipation, and good job by Barkley to get the ball up high where only Momah could reach it.

If you’re wondering about the wide receiver position without Riley Cooper here, Damaris Johnson is getting most of the first-team reps alongside Jackson.

Casey Matthews hasn't had a bad camp. He's broken up a few passes now, including one today.
