Excitement builds as WMOF congress opens

A crowd awaits for Friday morning Mass at World Meeting of Families at the Convention Center.

On the last day of the WMOF Congress, thousands gathered for Friday Morning Mass at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

A stage full of clergy in ivory vestments paraded down the center aisle. Sister Beatrice Clarke and a group of 25  fellow nuns from Nashville watched from nearby.

Clarke called being among families a highlight of the event.

"Traveling together as a  family isn't easy," Clarke said. "The sacrifice to be here is a real witness."

Now that the Congress is about to close, Clark is increasingly excited about seeing the Pope.

"There is a universal appeal to what he says -- the dignity of life, the care for the elderly," Clarke said. "It's like, 'Oh yeah, that's what we're supposed to be about.' "
