The PHS has partnered with 125 volunteers from area businesses and schools to plant 20,000 bulbs across five Center City locations beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20 as a preview for the 2017 PHS Philadelphia Flower Show.
The theme for this year's Flower Show is “Holland: Flowering the World.” It will take place March 11 through March 19 next year. As a release notes, the planted bulbs ought to “extend the impact” of the show throughout the coming spring in Center City.
The bulbs themselves, meanwhile, come from Breck’s, which is known as a prominent Dutch flower bulb importer.
The PHS and its volunteers will be planting bulbs at the following Center City locations:
- Swann Memorial Fountain
- Rodin Museum gardens
- Azalea Garden
- JFK Boulevard west of 20th St.
- PHS Headquarters/Gas Station Garden
In addition to the bulb plantings, PHS will also unveil the 2017 Flower Show poster, as well as new attractions at next year’s show.
