One dead in Philly stabbing

One man is dead and another is in critical condition after a stabbing in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood.

On Sunday about 9:14 p.m., police were called to the 3400 block of Frankford Avenue for a reported stabbing. They found a 57-year-old man lying outside the apartment suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was transported to Temple University Hospital and admitted in critical condition. A 47-year-old man was  found in the bathroom of a first-floor apartment with a knife wound to his chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police reported.

According to police, the 47-year-old entered the apartment of the older man, who was in bed, and allegedly began to hit him with a metal bookend. The younger man left and then returned with several knives and began to stab the older man. During the altercation, the older man grabbed a knife and stabbed the younger man in the chest and then ran outside the apartment.

The homicide unit is investigating, police said.
