'Losing him is a gutpunch': Tributes from Hollywood pour in for Bill Paxton

"Sons of Anarchy" and "Hellboy" actor Ron Pearlman shared this photo of himself sharing a laugh with Bill Paxton on Twitter Sunday morning.

Actor Bill Paxton, best know for his roles in "Titantic" and "Twister," died on Saturday due to complications following surgery. He was 61.

As the news broke Sunday morning, shocked movie stars and friends took to Twitter to offer their condolences and pay tribute to the long-time actor.

Rob Lowe, who was a close friend of Paxton:

Devastated by the sudden loss of my close friend and one of the finest actors in the business, Bill Paxton. Renaissance man, raconteur and

uniquely American national treasure. His filmography speaks for itself. His friendship was a blessing. My love to Bunny, James and Lydia.

Academy Award-winner Tom Hanks, who co-starred with Paxton in "Apollo 13":
