Political watchers were stunned this morning to hear House Speaker John Boehner announce his resignation -- minutes before Pope Francis was scheduled to address the U.N.
Some rejoiced, some lamented, and many revisited those images of Boehner crying behind Francis's shoulder yesterday.
I don't think the Pope said anything to Boehner which caused the action, but it's possible he helped crystalize thoughts for Boehner.

All it took for Speaker Boehner to resign was a visit from the Pope? Get that holy man to Harrisburg!
