Comedian Artie Lange tweets after drug arrest: ‘I ain’t gonna make it’

Comedian and former Howard Stern show sidekick Artie Lang was arrested last week on drug possession charges outside his New Jersey home.

Hoboken police spokesman Sgt. Edgardo Cruz told NJ.com that 49-year-old Lange, who has a history of drug addiction, was arrested on Sunday after allegedly being found with cocaine, heroin and drug paraphernalia in the parking garage of his building.

Two days after his arrest, Lange sent a tweet to Judd Apatow, who is producing the new HBO comedy series Crashing. In the show, Lange plays himself as a mentor to Peter Holmes' character, who is trying to make it as a stand-up comedian.

After news broke of his arrest, Lange took to Twitter to tell fans that he’s “doing great” and that he would still be appearing at the Funny Bone in St. Louis both Friday and Saturday night.

Lange is scheduled to do a stand-up comedy performance at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, N.J. on April 8. He’s also scheduled to appear at the Music Box at the Borgata in Atlantic City on June 10.
