Afternoon crowds: Parkway and Independence Mall

With hours still to go before Pope Francis is set to appear at either Independence Mall or the Festival of Families on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, crowds are growing at both locations.

Security lines in some places were short, nearly non-existent. At at least on Parkway checkpoint, however, lines were stalled, due to reported problems with the magnetometers.

Some in the streets, eagerly anticipating the pontiff's arrival, have been waiting since the early morning.
