2 men shot dead in Camden over past two nights

Camden authorities are investigating a pair of separate shootings that left two men dead over the last two nights.

About 7:30 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 1000 block of Thurman Street and found Shapaul Johnson, 18, of Camden, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 1:30 a.m. Friday.

Police are also investigating the Wednesday night shooting death of Edward Whittle Jr., 30, of Camden. About 7:15 p.m., police responded to a 911 call to the 1300 block of Carl Miller Boulevard and found the victim suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was taken to Cooper, where he was pronounced dead two hours later.

The investigations into both shootings are ongoing. No arrests have been reported.
