Bill Iezzi: Haddonfiweld's Slide

Wednesday, October 13, 2010, 12:01 PM
I was doing the field hockey rankings this morning when I noticed that Haddonfield had lost two of its last three games. The Bulldogs bowed to West Deptford, 2-1, on Oct. 7 and Ocean City, 4-3, two days later. I was at the West Deptford game and watched as the Eagles' defense shutout Haddonfield... Read more

Bill Iezzi: Unbeaten Ocean City

Tuesday, October 12, 2010, 1:10 PM
Early in the field hockey season I had Ocean City ranked in the Top 10. Then, I relegated the Red Raiders to the "Under consideration" category because they weren't playing against ranked teams. That changed on Saturday when Ocean City beat Haddonfield, ranked No. 6 by The Inquirer, 4-3... Read more

Tuesday, October 12, 2010, 9:00 AM
Pennsville football coach Ryan Wood says that quarterback Kenny Emmons will remain sidelined for Friday's game against visiting Glassboro. Emmons has missed most of the past two games with a hairline fracture in his fibula. In his place freshman Dylan Cummings has thrown for 427 yards and four touchdowns... Read more

Friday, October 8, 2010, 2:23 PM
Last week I wrote that Eastern field hockey goalkeeper Alana Barry, a junior, set a new school record for shutouts with 48. However, I didn't have information on whose record she broke and the year the old record was set. Eastern coach Danyle Heilig just e-mailed me with the following information:... Read more

Bill Iezzi: Ocean City Magic

Thursday, October 7, 2010, 10:41 AM
The Ocean City field hockey team is having a magical season. The Red Raiders' record as of Oct. 7 was 8-0 with seven shutouts. The only team to score on them was Hammonton, which lost, 3-1, on Sept. 29. Before the season started, first-year head coach Cory Terry didn't even know who her goalkeeper... Read more

Bill Iezzi: Eastern's Amazing Goalie

Wednesday, October 6, 2010, 11:52 AM
The Eastern field hockey team has a new record holder. Alana Barry, a junior, recorded her 48th career shutout with a 1-0 victory over Washington Township on Oct. 4. The previous record was 46, according to eastern coach Danyle Heilig, who sent me an e-mail about this. Heilig did not mention who... Read more

Bill Iezzi: Florence Field Hockey Upset

Tuesday, October 5, 2010, 10:08 AM
I turned on my computer this morning and was surprised to see that Rancocas Valley upset Florence, 3-2, Monday. Our Score Service didn't even have the results. They were sent to me by Jeffrey and Gina Smith, parents of Lexi Smith, Florence's top scorer. Gina is also Florence's head coach. RV went... Read more
