Wrestling: Camden Catholic beats Eastern on tiebreaker

It went down to the eighth tie-breaker criteria, but Camden Catholic beat Eastern tonight in a clash of South Jersey wrestling heavyweights.

No. 1 Camden Catholic scored a 34-33 victory over No. 4 Eastern based on Tiebreaker H -- most first-points scored.

The Irish scored the first points in a match seven times. The Vikings scored the first points five times.

"It was crazy," Camden Catholic wrestler Taylor Walsh said.

Walsh scored an injury default win over Anthony Baldosaro in a bout of state champions.

Camden Catholic also got big wins from John Chillem (135), Justin Danfield (152) and Mike Leonetti (pin at heavyweight).

Eastern was led by Rob Deutsch (pin at 119), Hank Stinson (pin at 140), Preston Keiffer (pin at 160) and Cameron Bibbs (pin at 171).

The match was delayed 30 minutes by Baldosaro's injury and officials took 20 minutes after the match to determine the winner.

"Wild is an understatement," Irish coach Gerry Boland said.
