Wood basketball coach Jack Walsh steps down

Archbishop Wood basketball coach Jack Walsh resigned on Friday afternoon, according to Vikings athletic director Joe Sette.

Sette said he was surprised by Walsh's decision but supported it as Walsh has a young family and business ventures.

"He loved coaching Archbishop Wood," said Sette, who coached Walsh at Wood. "He put his heart and soul into it."

Walsh guided Wood to a 14-10 (7-6 Catholic League) mark last season and a first-round playoff win over Lansdale Catholic.

Once the job is formally posted, the school will need at least 15 days to hire a new coach.
