Three Math Civics & Sciences' basketball players made school history on Tuesday afternoon as Britton Lee, Jeremiah Worthem and Quadir Welton became the first Mighty Elephants' players to sign Division-1 basketball scholarships.

Lee, a senior guard, and senior forward Worthem are bound for Robert Morris while senior forward  Welton will head to St. Peter's.

"It's a privilege and an honor to coach these guys," said MC&S coach Danny Jackson.

The basketball program is in its eighth year and Jackson said the school has sent around 15 to 20 players to college programs.

Lee transferred in September to MC&S from Roman Catholic and has already been named team captain by his teammates. Jackson said it's his "outstanding leadership on and off the court and his ability to hit the books in the classroom" that earned him the designation.

"He's been excellent," Jackson said.

The team will open up their season on Dec. 7 as they play Public League opponent Kensington.
