Cardinal O’Hara scored 28 points in each half as it easily rolled past visiting Archbishop Carroll, 56-20, Saturday in an interdivision Catholic League game.
Thaddius Smith led the Lions on offense with 231 all-purpose yards and five touchdowns. He opened the scoring with a 6-yard touchdown in the first quarter before adding a 35-yard receiving touchdown in the second.
Smith’s quarterback, Dashawn Darden, finished with 219 passing yards and four touchdowns.
He found Smith for 17-yard and 35-yard touchdowns in the third quarter as the Lions stretched their lead to 36 points.
With the win, O’Hara improved to 3-1 overall as it bounced back from last Saturday’s 56-20 loss to La Salle. Carroll dropped to 1-3. Both teams start their Catholic League schedule next weekend.
Nolan Cummings held down the defense with eight tackles, and Lamont Veal added a 68-yard fumble return for a touchdown.
For Carroll, Dan Bier provided the scoring as he caught two touchdowns and also returned a 93-yard kickoff for a touchdown.
He finished with 154 all-purpose yards, including a 52-yard touchdown from Sal Bello. Bello threw for 129 yards.
