Molyneux leads Calvary Christian to District 1 Class A title

With a runner on third and the game tied in Wednesday’s fourth inning, Calvary Christian baseball coach Darrell Benjamin told Josh Molyneux he was considering a suicide squeeze.

“I want the first pitch,” Molyneux responded. “I want to rope it.”
Molyneux did just that as he drove in Alexander Byers and the Cougars edged Devon Prep, 2-1, in the District 1 Class A final at Temple-Ambler.

Winning pitcher Tyler Scheuer fanned seven batters in 6.2 innings and added a tying single in the third. Jesse Geisler entered with the bases laoded and forced a first-pitch fly out to seal it.

“We are coming into a zone right now,” said Benjamin.
